HeartSmart
We are proud to be a HeartSmart school! HeartSmart is a creative approach that many primary schools use to build character, emotional health and resilience in children. It equips them with foundational principles and skills that will improve their mental health, relationships and academic achievement. As a school we recognise the value of educating the heart alongside educating the mind and we use HeartSmart to do just that!
Take a look at the HeartSmart video for parents to find out more about the approach.
Introduction to HeartSmart for Parents
Here are some fun phrases that are part of the HeartSmart programme. You may have heard your children using these phrases at home! They are called the HeartSmart High Five.
The HeartSmart High Five
As well as the HeartSmart High Five, you may hear also about BORIS the Robot. He is made from bits and bobs of recycled rubbish and he plays an important role in HeartSmart. In school, we learn not to listen to the Scrapman's voice (who says that he belongs on the scrapheap) We use the book, Boris the Robot to reinforce these messages.
We hope that as a family you will be enjoy finding out more about HeartSmart and talking about our HeartSmart High Five principles at home.
